Ganga Aarti

For thousands of years, Varanasi has been the most religious place for Hindus, a city steeped in spirituality and history. I fell in love with this ancient holy place, and used vibrant hues of red, orange, and gold to represent the flickering of the lights reflected in the sacred Ganges, and the timeless rituals repeated over centuries. The hypnotic movements of the priests, the atmosphere of devotion and reverence that fills the air during the evening prayers, the profound connection between the earthly and the divine all inspired this painting.
